Frequently asked questions
- What is file metadata?
- Metadata is data stored inside a file that you do not normally see: where a photo was taken (GPS), the camera or phone that took it, the software used, who authored a document, and when it was created or last edited.
- Can it show where a photo was taken?
- Yes, if the photo still carries its EXIF GPS tags. Many phones embed exact coordinates. Screenshots and images stripped by social networks usually do not, and we say so clearly.
- Can it tell if a photo or document was edited?
- It surfaces the editing software, author and modification timestamps embedded in the file, which often indicate that it was processed or altered. It reports what is embedded; it does not by itself prove origin.
- What files are supported?
- Photos (JPG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, WEBP, HEIC) and documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- How much does it cost?
- Your first report is free. After that it is US$10 per report, or US$100 for unlimited reports for a year.
Metadata is reported exactly as embedded in the file; its absence does not prove a file's origin, and precise GPS appears only when the file carries it. Files you upload are analysed privately and are never shared. Account required. · Investigative Intelligence Solutions Inc., Reg. No. 14926, Georgetown, Guyana · contact@iis.gy · +592-623-1721
